About the Library

Overview

The Central Library serves as a gateway to knowledge by providing comprehensive learning resources across engineering, science, technology, management, and humanities. It supports the institution's teaching, learning, and research activities through an extensive collection of books, journals, digital resources, and innovative library services.

The library is fully automated using VTLS Virtua Integrated Library Management Software, enabling efficient cataloguing, circulation, resource management, and Online Public Access Catalogue (OPAC) services through barcode technology. Modern facilities and digital learning spaces ensure quick and convenient access to information for the entire academic community.

BRECW Library assist the Institution and Stake holders by offering reliable access to the widest possible range of information resources. These resources include digital, online databases, Print and Non-print materials relevant to curricular and innovative research needs of the Academic Community in order to provide Right Information to the Right Users at the Right Time.

To provide an environment which aids for literacy, creativity and lifelong learning and to support students to achieve maximum academic potential today and empowering them to become global leaders of tomorrow.

Library Philosophy

The Central Library follows the timeless Five Laws of Library Science formulated by Dr. S. R. Ranganathan:

  • Books are for Use.
  • Every Reader His or Her Book.
  • Every Book Its Reader.
  • Save the Time of the Reader.
  • Library is a Growing Organism.

These principles continue to guide the library in strengthening its collections, services, and technologies while responding to the evolving needs of the academic community.

User Education & Orientation

The library conducts orientation programmes for first-year students at the beginning of every academic year to familiarize them with library collections, borrowing procedures, OPAC searching, digital resources, and information retrieval techniques. Awareness programmes and workshops are also organized in collaboration with IEEE, J-Gate, and DELNET to promote effective utilization of electronic resources and research databases.

Library Infrastructure

Spread across 623 sq. metres, the library offers a peaceful and technology-enabled learning environment.

  • First Floor: Reading Hall, Newspapers & Periodicals, Integrated Book Bank, Circulation Counter, Information Display Area.
  • Second Floor: Reference Section, Reading Hall, Digital Library, Loan Section, Internet-enabled Systems.
