J Sujatha, Head of English Faculty, earned her master’s degree, i.e. M.A, in English Literature from Bharathidasan University, Trichy in the year 1993 and M.Phil. from Madras University, Chennai in 1994.She joined in BRECW in 2015 as an Assistant Professor. She has eight years of teaching experience. She has been involved in ‘The College Magazine Committee’ for four years as an English editor and coordinator.

English communication skill is the most challenging skill, especially for the technical students, to face the global competition of job opportunities in the corporate sectors.

Aims and objectives of English as a theory:

  • The introduction of English aims at achieving all the four fundamental skills: Listening, speaking, reading and writing (LSRW) with an emphasis on vocabulary and grammar.
  • Develop study skills, comprehension skills, interpersonal skills and communication skills in both formal and informal situations.

Aims and Objectives of English Labs:

  • Well-equipped with the state-of-the-art English language labs, the English lab sessions provide a platform to enhance speaking and listening skills.
  • The lab has two components: CALL Lab (Computer-Assisted Language Learning Lab) and ICS Lab (Interactive Communication Skills Lab).
  • CALL Lab: There are two CALL Labs—CALL Lab 1 and CALL Lab 2—well-furnished and installed with Globarena Software for the first year students and K-VAN Solutions for the third year students. The objective of the software-based learning is to enable the students to learn the concepts of English speech sounds and structure.

ICS lab: (Interactive Communication Skills)

  • There are two ICS LABS—ICS LAB 1 and ICS LAB 2—are spacious enough to conduct various activities like Jam Sessions, Seminars, and Group Discussion to sharpen the soft skills and presentation skills of the student.

HoD Message

Communication skills along with soft skills, play an important role in moulding the students’ over-all personality and in building up their confidence both in academic and career prospects. Both theory and lab provide an interactive approach towards learning. We have well educated and experienced English faculty to facilitate student’s development and enhancement of English communication skills.
